NEED HELP FINDING A Kickdown Cable

I have broken my Kickdown cable and I'm having trouble locating a replacement one. I have checked my local junkyards and have struck out on every truck. It has either been the wrong cable or it has already been gotten.
I need one for a 351 Windsor with a C6 Transmission. Does anyone have any suggestions? What other vehicles could I look on for the same part, for ,instance I can get some parts off of a Bronco. Are there any other vehicles that I should be looking on?

Do you know the Ford part number? There are a few online places to check if you have the part number. Maybe numberdummy will see your post and chime in.

[There are two numbers stamped onto it I'm not sure if either will be helpful. I did a quick search and nothing showed up. The Two numbers are T12B and 129T9

Please, when asking a question, list ALL the pertinent info.

Your "About Me" profile says 1989 F150. Is this what you want the cable for?

If so: E6TZ-7A187-D .. C6 Kick Down Cable / Obsolete

Last MSRP: $91.88 - Dealer net cost: $55.13.

Applications: 1986/96 F150 5.0L / 1987/96 F150/350 & Bronco 4.9L / 1988/96 F150/350 & Bronco 351W

ADAMS FORD CO. in Logansport LA has 1 = 318-697-5561.

ALBERIC FORD in Carolina Puerto Rico has 1 = 787-522-6200 x 206.

There's one more, but the Ford dealer in NM that has it will only sell parts to other Ford dealers.

This means if your local Ford dealer buys it, will mark up the price and probably the shipping charges as well.

Here's the info: ARTESIA FORD in Artesia NM has 1 = 575-746-3578.

Their webpage says: PLEASE DO NOT GIVE NUMBER FOR CUSTOMERS TO CALL. WE ONLY SELL TO DEALERS!!!!!!!!!

Sorry for not giving this information in the First post. The kickdown or detent cable is for a black 1989 Ford F-150 with a 351 Windsor and a C6 Transmission.

I Did a quick little search for the part number you referenced(E6TZ-7A187-D) and it came up as a Throttle Cable. The cable I am looking for runs from the Throttle Body to the transmission. I've attached two pictures the first is the end that connects to the Throttle Body and the second is the end that attaches to the transmission.

BS! Wherever you got the info from...it's wrong.
Geez Louise! 7A187 is NOT an accelerator (throttle) cable. The basic Ford part number for an accelerator cable is 9A758

I looked at the pic of the linkage in the 1980/89 Ford Light Truck Parts Catalog. Pic shows basic part numbers: 7F042 or 7A187. 7F042 is not used with 351W but 7A187 is.

Go to any FoMoCo dealer and look in their parts catalog to see the same part number that I came up with.

Usually I could post a pic of the cable and the part number, but I have a 'ghost in the machine' so I cannot.

Chris (ctubutis), moderator of the 1980/86 forum and a pal of mine is going to fix it, hopefully before the new year.

I'm sorry that my questioning of the part number that you gave me offended you. I didn't mean anything by it, I was just relaying what I found. Here is where the cable was labeled as a throttle cable https://parts.lakelandford.com/p/For...6TZ7A187D.html. There wasn't a picture on the website for me to verify what it was. I was just checking to verify that was, in fact, the correct part number because I wanted to ensure a proper fit.

You did not offend me, that crappy info did.

Lakeland Ford parts dept is an FTE sponsor, but they have the wrong description for E6TZ-7A187-D because it is not an accelerator cable.

Originally a 7A187 was a steel kick down rod, became a cable in the 1980's.

A part number that is in the 7000/7999 group is trans related, while a part number in the 9000/9999 group is fuel related.

E6TZ-9A758-D .. Accelerator Cable-39 5/8" long / 1985/89 F150/350 & Bronco 302/351W with C6 or M/T

I didn't look to see the applications for 1990 and etc.

Thank You. Sorry for the misunderstanding! You are very good at what you do. Thank you for being thorough! Thank you for finding the part number for the Kickdown cable. I can see the light at the end of this very long parts search
