Alright you guys and gals i got a big as$ problem with my transmission. My 5th gear (overdrive) syncronizer on my 5-speed transmission has gone out. I am wondering, do yall think i should replace the sycronizer or buy a rebuilt tranny, because the truck has almost 200,000 miles and the 1&2 shift forks and 3&4 shift forks have been replaced in it. Gimmie some input. And by the way someone please tell our beloved friends at FORD not to ever buy them damn POS of mazda transmissions from overseas. Thankz
If you allready have some cash in the existing M5OD, then yes, I would go ahead and fix the synchronizer(s). Otherwise, you might look for a low mileage M50d from a wrecked F-150. The first year was 1987, and I believe they are still used behind the 4.2L V6 and 4.6L in the F-150's today.
