Hi friends. I have a 93 F150. I want ot know what to use on the aluminum ? wheels . The manual says they are coated. Are the center caps chrome? thanks
If you're talking about what to use on them polish them, I like to use this stuff called Neverdull by Eagle One. It's in a small metal container. I works really well. Just follow the directions. I've also noticed that when I take my truck to a carwash, the wheel cleaner they spray on the wheels will leave streaks. This stuff will take those streaks out too. It works really well.
The center caps are chrome.
I have the aluminum rims on my truck they are nice, but the clear coat is starting to come off in some spots, and brake dust is getting under the coating and turning it black, and you cant clean under it.
Has anyone else experienced this? And how do ya clan that stuff off?
Maybe I’ll try the never dull stuff and see how that works.
MADMAN ive had the same damn problem with my damn rims with the brake dust problem. I went to WAL-FART and bought some of that ***** that gets bugs, and gunk off your bumpers and stuff, and it took that ***** riight off and then i polished it with some turtle wax chrome polish.
Once you get them clean you may want to hit them with a little clear coat just to replace the stuff that flaked off. That way the aluminum won't be exposed to the elements and start to tarnish and corrode.
Thanks for information cowboy and ninja.
I want to clean them up real good, because I balanced the tires and some moron put the wrong kind of wheel weights on the rim, and the rims were corroded really bad behind the weights.
I didn’t want them to corrode again so the tip for the clear coat will help.
Thanks for the tip to clean them, now they'll look like new.
