Body bushings

It's time to tackle the body bushing change out.i have looked into this Several times, with each time putting it off.(lol).Rear bushings are squashed, flaking apart, with the mids looking ok.After several searches I do believe they are pressed in on the assembly line. Also saw where to undo all bolts and tackle one side at a time.Energy suspension sells a kit via bronco graveyard,Amazon,eBay etc.Prothane has bushings with a few other makers.Curious to see what others have used and any Tips and Shortcuts used .Feel free to chime in thanks .TR

Thanks 85, I also found this--,http://imagesrv.catalograck.com/imgVD/ENE/17029.pdf, but in reading that and the info you sent, now it makes sense, the lower portion is threaded as per part w in the schematic. I know why I have been putting this off.

Mine had to be cut off as the threaded part had become one with the lower after 40 years. Good luck.

Black Ford XLT -

I redid the body bushings on my '78 Bronco. I believe what I found were the original bushings - they were squashed, cracked, and showing wear consistent for a part +30 years old. You can see here the condition:

I also found some rust issues in some spots under some of the body bushings. So you may find some metal work ahead of you as well. Here is what I started with:

And then before putting it all back together with the new bushings:

One consideration that may inspire you to tackle it sooner rather than later - look at this pic. It was the worst offender, but there were a couple others with rust issues. So by replacing the bushings it gave me the opportunity to tackle the rust issues. I ultimately took this time to have the frame soda blasted and painted.

I found a copy more snaps.

This one shows the new bushing in the left front wheel.

And this snap shows one in right rear. Compared to the original smushed, cracked, and eyesore bushings the new ones are worlds apart. After you do it you'll be happy you made the time for the job.
