hey everyone, I just came across something which I believe is a little odd. I am in the middle of disassembly on my 351M (out of a donor vehicle) and I've noticed my main bearing caps are out of order. From the front to the back they are numbered #2 #1 #3 and then sequential after that. Is it safe to say someone has most likely been in this engine before and installed the caps out of order? Or is this in some odd way the correct sequence? Any info appreciated.
Somebody has stamped numbers in the rods & rod caps too, that usually get's done at the machine shop when they do a rebuild to keep the rod and cap together. I don't ever recall seeing it on a factory engine.
