Cool. I'd love to see pictures and details on the swap, I'm thinking of doing that with my '66.

Fender emblem also appears to be from a 1965.

The grille and fender emblems are specific to 1965 or 1966, everything else is the same.

The guy told me that the grill was from a 65. I didn't know the difference in fender emblems. The truck has rust in the cab floor and in the bed around the wood. Everything else is pretty much rust free.Has some wiring issues that shouldn't be a big problem with you guys help. lol.

styleside beds don't have wood from the factory so somebody has 'customized' it...be careful, the wood may have been added to hide some extensive rust in the floor, which might still need fixed to keep the bed structurally sound.

Really? Stylesides do not have wood floors. I thought it was an option.

No Styleside of any year has a wood bed floor, only Flaresides did.

The tailgate reminds me of the type used on 1967-1972 trucks. The letters "F" (not seen in your picture), "R" and "D" are shaped a bit differently with the serifs.

Thanks guys for the enlightenment. I knew the tailgate was incorrect. When I drove to Cheyenne to see it. The guy had cut a piece of diamond plate and tacked it in. I could see the edges of the bed. They all looked good. I looked under the truck and the supports all looked good. When it gets here, I am sure there will be surprises.

Expect some kind of frame modifications in the rear to accommodate the 66 bed (unless it's got a 3" body lift). And expect some possible rear axle modifications for the 79 was longer wheelbase. And the rear driveshaft would have been shortened. Without a good side pic, the rear wheels seems centered?
Also, there will be some body lift (at least 1.5") if the hump of the 79 frame was kept intact under the bed. Or expect the frame to be modified to accommodate the bed without any body lift. Also, either the bed will be redrilled or something else added for the 66 frame was narrower.

These are the issues I ran into when doing the swap. I've yet to come up with a good idea for attaching the most rear bed bolts. I've done it 3 different ways and really didn't like any of them personally. But they worked.
