I'm getting them really bad after hand washing (bucket, water hose water, cheep parts house liquid soap, wash rag). I guess I'm going to have to hand dry every panel with a towel? OR can I apply wax over the water spots and will that mix in and make them disappear?
Just kinda wondering what other people are doing to deal with this especially those with black trucks.
I have hard water out of my well. If I don't towel dry right away, I get spots pretty bad, even on the glass. If I wash my truck in town with city water, it is not nearly as bad, but i do have a White SD.
My super duty is dark magnetic metalic. We have hard water here in the desert as well. I have been using a product from a company called driven. Goes on like wax, last longer, water spots and other contaminates don't stick to the paint. It's kind of pricey but it's one of the few things I found that actually does what it says it will.
My truck is black and I get water spots badly. I dry the whole truck with 2 huge microfiber towels. If my leaf blower is out I'll use it first then towel dry.
I used to have a black truck..constant washings and waxing to keep them at bay. I then bought a white truck..loved it, used to use a zaino wax about once every two months and water spots were not an issue. Now I have a dark green truck with the clear flaking off and a dent in the side from my wife..haven't washed it in almost a year, figure someday ill build a nice big garage and be able to get the truck inside. At which point ill spend the money to recondition the exterior and have it painted.
I always wipe the vehicle off. One thing I do before drying is taking the nozzle off the hose. Run the water over the truck knocking all the beads off. Easier to dry and less likely to spot.
I have an In-Line water filter on the hose I use for washing our cars. It does't eliminate water spots but I have time to dry off the truck before the hard water deposits form.
