The LED sealed beam units, I discussed it with a wrecker driver, they put them in all of their trucks, very bright, lights up the road, he said he really never feels the need to use high beams, yet when he does it puts far more light out than the traditional halogens. I've been considering putting them on my 73, but my 99 has composite housings, there is nothing for them, and I have no plans to convert it to sealed beam. 7x6 LED Headlights HID Light Bulbs Crystal Clear Sealed Beam Headlamp Pair | eBay
You're throwing money away, our housings are not designed for HID, they do not reflect correctly focusing on the road, you blind oncoming drivers, keep what they are designed for or convert over to sealed beam and use the LED sealed lights.
Nope, you'll need to convert to sealed beams and use those LEDs, unfortunately, neither HID or LED bulbs will reflect through our housing well enough to improve anything, what you can do is add driving lights to air them, I've done that.

You mount small lights that are called 'driving lights' under your bumper, they aid your headlamps, mine threw a wide field, the headlights projected out with the others filling in the rest, you just need to chose the right set for you.

Maples,
I think i know what you are talking about. Here is a link for LED lights.
Thats nice, been looking for the old amber colored fog lights, they are hard to find, there are lenses to put on those LED but I don't know if they are as effective cutting through fog. There are so many LED lights out there, you just need to research to see if they last long.
I didn't realize those old ones were so expensive.
They are calling these yellow but they do have a amber tent from the pic..
This set of fog lights was purchased from Kmart in 1985 and was never opened or used. The kit comes with connectors, 15 feet of wire, and illuminated Rocker switch US $54.99 Fog Light Kit in Amber 12 volt Vintage with Wiring and switch

Those particular lights look horrid. Not very bright, too much on the foreground, and throws light everywhere.

They were looking like regular lights on the wrecker the night he came out to help me, there is no option for me, the 73 has round lights, they lack the surface area for LEDs, sealed beams would be my only option for it, my 99 has composite lights, they were designed to reflect the halogen bulbs, leaving no options there either, the LEDs don't reflect light like halogens, so I wonder how well they work, but the cost is too high to try them out.
I did that once, requires a relay harness, they drew more power, the wiring got smoked, I've not done it on this van because the relay harness I put on it kept failing, the relays I think keep corroding, had to remove it, I'll not put in H4 on 40 year old wiring. I want to get good quality headlamp relay harness, the ebay ones are a fraud, the wiring is small gauge, they make up for it with thicker insulation, they are too short, I found this when I needed to lengthen it to reach the other light.
It seems simple to make a harness yourself if you couldn't find a decent one anywhere.
The schematics are out there.
All the stock wiring does is switch the power so the relays do the work.
I made the one on my 99 vette years ago before they were readily available.

Yeah, but I don't want to buy up all the wire and stuff to make one, gets expensive fast, the connectors add up, everything on ebay look the same as what I already have, and none tell you the length, I can't understand why what I bought was so short.
