Ok so i unserstand that Ford resdesigned this motor at the end of 07 to fix the two piece spark plug to a one piece to prevent them from breaking off for 08-10. My question is when did Ford redesign this motor for the variable cam timing (VCT)? Was the timing resdesigned the same time as the spark plugs? My parents truck is right on the border of being disfunctional and i would like to fix this up for them. I have been doing research and i think im gonna go with the route of an engine swap, same engine just from an 08-10 F150. Thats assuming they fixed the timing for the 08 models. Any feed back is appreciated.
Everything is the same minus the spark plug redesign along with the Coil Over Plug (black boots on 05-07 tanish on 08-10)
What wrong with the current engine?
Bascially everything. They bought an 06, not the best invesment but it used to get from point A to B. The spark plugs break off when getting replaced, the coil packs go bad way too often. With all the research i have done it is way more fair to assume to the variable cam timing (VCT) has also gone bad/is going bad. It has all the symptoms everyone else does. Ford couldnt of gotten away with leaving that ****ty quality of timing on these motors. I know they were redesigned with better parts im just not sure when.
