Been on here for a long time as a lurker for knowledge ... now I can't find what I need. Here's the story .... e99 F250 with a 2001 motor swap and is a 6 Speed. Bought it this way and to be honest it was a cobbled up mess ... but it was stupid cheap. Motor had couple issues. Transmission broke so I had trans rebuilt and different motor put in (lower mileage, new oil pan, new up pipes, supposedly rebuilt injectors). I get the truck back and guy says it smokes whenever the accelerator is pushed and he thinks some orings have gone bad (on rebuilt injectors according to him) and he gives me another set of rebuilt injectors. Replace injectors and a crap ton of other parts that were wrong, bad, rigged, etc. All that to say that I am still having an issue I had with previous motor. Anytime I cross, roughly, 40% throttle above 2500 rpm it bucks (hardcore miss) and losses power. I am fairly certain it has an Auto tranny PCM in it but from what I have gathered it doesn't matter, PLEASE LET ME KNOW IF THIS IS FALSE. I have been using my 01 X 7.3 for reference PID info but am not seeing any difference. Plan to Data Log it with AE as soon as I can. Just checking to see if anyone had similar symptoms.
Thanks in advance for any info. I am not a knowledgeable computer savy guy. Cannot figure out how to specify search terms. Any and all "tools" for this not savy guy is appreciated.
It does sound like a fuel problem and I'd check in the tank. Try pulling the fuel line off of the rear of the fuel pump and blowing air back into the fuel tank. The pump is inside the frame below the driver's seat. Remove fuel cap first. That should temporarily dislodge anything clogging your fuel intake. The hose is only held in place with a white plastic horseshoe clip, then pulls right off. Easy on that clip though or you'll break it. I recommend buying new one first because they are brittle. It seems that all auto parts stores have them.
thanks for the replies. Hutch mod performed last fall. Along with diesel site's filter setup and a new fuel pump. Waiting on a fitting to test fuel pressure. Previous motor (bad oil pan and injectors... got this motor for a little more injectors) did the exact same thing as this one.
I won't make it back down to the shop til Monday afternoon. Happy Holidays!!
Little update ... Hooked it up to AE and found P1293 and P1294 codes and I found that the Intake temp sensor was MIA. I am picking up contact cleaner and dielectric grease tomorrow to tackle that as I found a couple threads where these were solved by a good cleaning. Picking up the sensor as well.
I will also be testing the fuel pressure at the outlet of the fuel bowl as I picked up the fittings I need to hook a gauge up. If that shows up funky I plan to work my way backwards to the pump.

Good plan, there have been a few instances where the Hutch Mod went bad, ie: pinched line when putting tank back in, bad clamp job causing air, broken pickup foot etc.

I was one of these people that spent a lot of time getting the tank back in. Luckily I inspected the lines just before securing the tank in place and saw that the lines were twisted and crimped for the most part. I ended up having to lower and raise the tank several times in order to get the lines in the correct orientation when the tank was put back in place.
The truck is much better since the hutch/harpoon mods, but it was a tedious task.
When using dielectric grease be sure to keep it away from the actual contacts on the plugs ETC. It is actually an insulator and should be used as a sealer.
Quick update ... Cleaned harnesses and connectors. Inspected connector seals and all is well there so I skipped the grease. Tested valve cover harnesses, then tested to 42 pin and all is well again. Didn't have the time to tackle the fuel pressure gauge stuff do some needed maintenance on the wife's Excursion (yep another 7.3). Should have some more data next weekend. Thanks to all who have offered advice!!
