Are there any 2003 Supercrew Lariat owners out there that have red and white lights that work on the inside front doors of their trucks? I was told that this option was dropped from the 2003 models and that they only work on the 2000 through 2002.
My 2003 Lariat has no wiring harnesses inside the doorframes as well as inside the cab. My local dealer told me that they opened up three other Lariats on their lot, and all three of them have no lights! I’m wondering if this perhaps is a flaw from the factory, or is the dealer correct in telling me that this light option was dropped for 2003.
I’d love to hear from anyone out there regarding this, I have a feeling that I just might have to get into it with FORD over this one.
I have a 2003 4 X 4 XLT and the door has the red plastic inserts and it would seem like there should be a light there -- but there isn't and I have wondered for some time what the deal is.
Actually, I think that I opened another thread on this subject but nothing came of it.
I expect that Ford just decided not to include the light but didn't want to redesign the door so they just left it with the red plastic insert and no light.
Will be interesting if anyone can shed some light (no pun intended) on this.
The red reflector is to help keep your door from getting knocked off by passing motorist when parked on the curb with the door open.
The light was to illuminate the rear floorboard with the door shut.
It was probably changed to keep the cost down on the 2003.

ford_tr_man, try again. My 2003 has a light in the glove compartment as well as tinted glass on the top of the windshield.
I see that you’re from Anchorage, where did you get your information?
