hey guys - put on my new Bassani shorty headers and Y-pipe with highflow cat on my sig truck last week (which already had an Edelbrock catback system on it). It had a nice low rumble before. much better than stock but not that aggressive. i didn't want the pop and crackle of the flowmasters and i didn't want any resonance in my cab, which is why i went with the edelbrock catback, but i did want it a bit more aggressive (pretty picky right?). anyway. the addition of the new headers and y-pipe has really made a difference. the truck has a much louder growl and gets really throaty and mean when i step on it. and there is still practically no drone in my cab. now i'm just trying to decide if i want to put some big wazoo tips on there as well.
the only downside is that any mpg gain i was hoping to get as a result of the better exhaust flow is being more than offset by the way i'm driving my truck now. i guess my enthusiasm may die after a while....but right now, i get on it every chance i get!
also - my friend who has his own garage and helped me put the stuff on (more like i watched him put it on for me) said the headers were the best quality ones he'd ever seen. he has put a lot of headers on both cars and trucks but had never seen the Bassanis before. he was very impressed with them.
Thats the same thing I heard from the mechanic who put my Bassani headers on. Super quality, awesome gasketless designs, and the graphite crush sleeve head gaskets are pretty trick to. I know what you mean about offsetting the mpg gains. I have backed off since premium is now $2 a gallon here .
