Merry Christmas to me

Went to do a oil change this morning and there's oil all over the transmission and rear axle basically everywhere! I'm like great what now so I soak the entire engine chassis with Dawn dish soap and then power washed it clean. Go for a ride and sure enough I check around and the rear passenger head is leaking at the head gasket!!!!!

I was even at 30k when I brought it in for the drivers side weeping...first dealer said it's normal second one took the valve cover off and retorqued head bolts and it stopped. Ever once in a while since then I have a weep stain in the valley...funny how I was under it not two weeks ago to check starter cables for a weird possibly dead battery issue and the truck is bone dry and clean like usual. Now today BAM oil everywhere

That's weird that it would leak that much oil in that amount of time.

Yea I was literally just under the truck not two weeks ago to check starter and grease the chassis and not one drip under the truck. I get under it this morning and the oil is from the motor to the back bumper, funny thing is there's no evidence on my driveway of a leak. I have it spotless now you can't tell....except the oil cloth I stuck between the firewall and head LOL

I changed the oil so it's full, I'm gonna go to the dealer which is three miles from my house and get prices on a new motor and then part's to fix my motor. Then I'll check when I get back to see how much I'm loosing, it just p@sses me off to no end that I literally baby this truck since I took it off the showroom floor. Ever 3k I change the oil great the chassis (when I added greasable fittings to everthing) rotate the tires ever 4-5 k, fuel filter twice a year, great unit bearings once a year I mean I can go on and on. I don't mud my truck I don't go do burnouts etc and I just had to rebuild the trans a few months back and now of course I get the typical mod motor head gaskets failure....I'm seriously debating going to a different brand truck tomorrow

That sucks, what's the mileage on your Engine?

You may post the specs too, your signature isn't showing. I checked another thread and it looks like a 2004 5.4.

Think of it as factory installed automatic rust proofing.

Ok I just left the dealer where my buddy is the parts manager. I can get a Ford rebuild long block plus the updated Ford stainless exhaust studs for 3k. All I gotta do is pull it swap in. Ew motor and install intake and accessories. Water pump etc is all new with price

OR

get part's to fix my motor
top end kit, timing chains, tensioner, guides, temperature sensor, balancer seal, timing cover gasket, waterproof gasket, water pump gasket for 700.00. PLUS I'm calling around for prices on machine both heads and I have to get prices on ARP head studs....

That was how I looked at my 7.3. That thing leaked about 2-3 gallons of oil out every oil change. It coated the underside of my truck and it never had any rust issues lol.

OK am I the only one wondering why an oil leak means a blown head gasket? I don't see the connection.

How's it running?
