I have been thinking about getting a Samsung tablet because they are pretty cheap now (7" E lite tablet = $70 or 7" A tablet = $100 at Best Buy), I've already got a Bluetooth OBD2 reader and I'd download the Torque Pro app to bring everything together to monitor the truck (2000 EX V10 4x4). I was just wondering if anyone is running a setup like this and how it's been working out for you? I'm also wondering the best way to mount a 7" or 8" tablet without being in the way of everything else? Thanks for any info on this.
I have the same combination. Picked up a brand new Samsung Galaxy Tablet A 8" (Wi-fi only) for $100 off CL. Temporarily mounted on a cup holder tablet mount. I have a goose neck tablet mount that bolts to the seat bolts, but that isn't holding the tablet steady and is very shaky. Need to figure out how to get it stop that bobble head movement
Thanks for the reply! Your original post was what got me thinking of this more. That along with seeing how cheap the tablets were in Best Buy the other night. How are you liking running the Torque Pro app? Is there a lot of lag time running off Bluetooth? I was thinking of going with a suction cup mount on the windshield but I was thinking it might obstruct the view too much.
So far, no issues with lag. But then, I haven't yet mastered all the readings from the app either. So, it is more of an experiment for now.
I did not want anything to obstruct my awesome view from the driving seat Also, I wanted it to be away from my direct sight to make it difficult for me to look at that screen while driving
The tablets work fine lots of room for gauges, but mounting???
Is that the Torque Pro App? From what I can tell, it is only available on Android. Dash Command seems to be the app for iOS... I have an iPad and was wanting to do this as well.
I use my cell phone to view gauges. Personally, I see no sense in leaving a device in the truck to be stolen or ruined by cold weather. I am disappointed in the Bluetooth obd reader I got. It seems to lose connection often.

I use a "used" Tab 7 with Torque Pro. Mounted on the dash in the lower left corner. It doesn't block my view in any way. Always removed when not traveling and towing. Don't feel I need it around town for any reason.
With the Tab 7, I haven't had any bluetooth or pad problems. I used to use a Samsung Note 5 (5"), but it would not hook up sometimes, or some guages wouldn't read without restarting the Note, sometimes more than once. It's now dead, so probably had problems even before I bought it off C/L!!! Have also used my LG phone at times, works well also.

Could you post a pic of your setup? What mount are you using for your tab 7"?
I just installed an android head unit (Joying). Considered doing the same but after getting a tablet, mount and power supply the cost was nearly the same and the head unit fits cleanly and works well for everything.
I have a tab 7 that is on the sprint network and its great. I use it as my headunit. Its linked to a eq and than goes to each amp. And if u look around each network now is pretty much free tablet with contract. Mine is $10 a month

How is that tab mounted? Can you also take a brighter picture of the switch panel?
