57 Power Steering

Has anyone installed the Toyota power steering kits that are available for the 53-56 models, on a 57-60? I know that the pitman arms and draglinks are different. But it really looks like it might work quite well , (and in some cases, bolt right up to the frame) for the 57! Any takers?

I have the toyota box on my 57.I made my own mounting bracket out of 1/4 flat stock. The hole in the frame for the pitman arm has to be enlarged. If I was to do it again I would get a drag link for a 56 and use it instaed of modifing the pitman arm for a 56.It's 2 o clock in the mourning so bear with me if none of this made sense

What year model toyota did you get the box from? I talked to Javier at CPP, and he has a customer who has made this kit work, but apparently the guy does not want to share his experience. Talking to Javier, the major problem the guy had was with drilling the ball off the pitman arm (has to be machined to be tapered). I currently have PS, but I mounted the box forward of the axle, and my pitman arm hits my left tire, but only when I am backing up to the right! I don't see any reason to pay the $100 for the kit, when just as mkrog did, it can be home-made.

The gear is from a eariy 80's Toyota 4+4 if I remember right. The kits are all for 56 and older and there is where is.The pitman arms that you can get all have the ball for the older style drag link.I drilled the ball out and used the 57 drag link.If I was to do it again I would remove the 57 drag link and use a 56 link. One would have to buy a 56 drag link and a ball to bolt up to the 57 sterring arm.

Cool! I wonder if the steering arm (that bolts to the spindle or hub) would bolt right up. Anyone know if it would? That would make it tremendously easier to install!!

Are you talking about bolting the 56 steering arm to the 57 spindle?.If you are, there is no need to, the ball from the 56 drag link will bolt right up to the 57 steering arm

Even better (except I cut my arm off short when I put my current PS on)! I did not realize that the 56 ball would bolt up to the 57 steering arm! I guess the ball is tapered on the opposite end then......
