Best rates around

What are the best 84 month rates people have seen without being in the military or going through a special work-only CU??? In my area it's not overly feasible to pay off a home and pay cash for a truck so ...a loan it is! Looking around the best I have seen is Nationwide bank at 2.99 for 84 mo. I know the slightly better rates aren't a huge difference in monthly payments but I prefer to keep most of my money in my pocket and not give it away for no reason. Maybe we can all benefit from finding a good deal!

I agot 2.74% through nationwide two months ago. That was the best rate I had seen. Dealership had no banks willing to go below 3.5%

Did you get pre-approved prior to going to the dealership or wait to hear what they we're offering? I figure it's good to be prepared.

I got pre-approved. Only took 5 minutes applying. Rates have gone up a tad since I got my loan, and it looks like 2.99% is close to as good as it comes.

I went in to my dealer with a pre-approval from one of my banks for 2.5% for 5 years. They got me 2.24% for 5. I know that was not directly your question, but if you go in prepared good dealers may have access to different local banks and credit unions.

Did they verify your pre-approval or just take your word for it? Just curious cuz I know dealerships frequently have extra wiggle room with rates due to the high volume of loans with each lender.

They didn't verify. The truck I purchased was three hours away, so all this was via text. Once we found the truck I liked, he asked for my information to get financing started. I told him I had my own, to which he asked what my rate was so they could hopefully beat it. Once I told him he said their finance department said "congrats" and that was it. If you have good credit, you will get the 3% from nationwide. I would tell your dealer that is your rate, and ask if they can beat it (tell them your credit score) They should be able to give you a pretty definitive answer without running a credit check.

Me and the wife are both over 800 on scores so it's nice to never worry to much about qualifying for the best rates.

Same deal here. Check with State Farm. Looks like they may be able to beat the 2.99%.

On December 3rd we locked in 2.99% for 84 months from our credit union. If we had waited to get approved until we took delivery yesterday we would have ended up with 3.14% for 84 months from our credit union. Our dealer was not able to beat our credit union's rates.

I am getting 2.85% for 84 months with my credit union. They are offering 1.24% if I do 60 months. It of course is based off a credit rating that is above 730 which I am sitting above 800.
