Hi all, I am looking to see if anyone has pictures of what is actually under the center console. I have a 2016 crew cab and looking to build a down firing subwoofer box. I was able to mimic JL's stealth box in my 99 and loved the sound. I can easily build the box from .5 to .8 cuft based on measurement just do not know if there is any space under the console to let it breathe. I found images of the base, just not the floor. Thanks
Here's an exploded view of the center console from a parts manual. It's been 18 months since I had mine out, unfortunately didn't take picutre of the floor.
There's a little bit of a hump in the floor towards the forward half of the console; part #5 and the console straddle it. The floor flattens out as you go back.
There's not a lot of room under the console because the 12V ports and power for the DC-to-AC Inverter, and the HVAC vents run on the underside.
I installed a box with two 10" subs behind the rear seat.
Well rain was coming and I didn't get any pictures snapped of the console assembled, here are some in progress shots. Sound is significantly improved, I be very happy now.
Marking outer diameter (note the opposite side is where I cut a trapezoid out to clear the bolt mounting, upper right is cut, lower left is mirror of what I am referencing)
Making a mess, rotary bit
Two notes:
1) recess or flush mount sub, there is a restraint module that sits center hub, fortunately cutting the carper around it enabled enough clearance, hopefully
2) when taking the console apart, I cut the main tab under the mounting recess on driver side to allow a tight but doable tilt out. The side molding is welded to the box post assembly
Well, I call this a failed attempt, space saving is awesome, couldn't get all the rattles out of the center console. Next try will be it mimic jl audio stealth box, if that fails probably throw down on jl
