The dealership sells mostly Ford products but also sells Dodge cars and trucks. So the parts mgr. asked me if I had a Ford or Ram truck, I asked if there was a diff. in DEF for each truck, he said yes because of warranty issues but it's probably the same stuff.
While staying at a RV park in Mt Home ID I went to the Ford/Dodge dealer to pick up a jug of DEF. I was asked if I wanted Ford or Dodge DEF. I ask what was difference he said price, the Dodge DEF was $7 more. Must be good stuff.
I just bought a 2 1/2 jug from Wallyworld for $7.88. Dealer has bad hours for my schedule haha
I keep trying to find it at Wally World for that, but as soon as they are put out on the shelf they are GONE up here. I did see that NAPA had a sale (I think it's over now) for $10 for a 2.5 gal jug... Not horrible, but I hit Wally World more often then I would walk into a NAPA.
I have a friend who has a new Dodge and Dodge supposedly INSISTS on their DEF at $40/jug ... threats of warranty issues. I don't buy that -
Isn't there something in the warranty law that says if a manufacturer insist you have to use their branded product or face a voided warranty, they are required to supply it free of charge?
One issue that IS possible with wal mart is that people have alledgedly been known to return bottle of DEF with water in them. As in they replace it with water. Kinda of a nasty thing to do. Personally, I have never seen this so I don't if this is another one of those internet hoaxes.
I firmly believe that the water in the Wal Mart DEF is a internet myth. As many different places I have purchased their DEF while pulling the 5'r, I have yet to see any evidence to believe it is tampered with.
It is amazing how myths get perpetuated on the net from just a few people talking about it on one forum and soon becomes facts on majority of other forums. If one can not validate the rumor as truth, then we ought not mentioned it again in other threads on this or other forums.
I know for a fact that Blue gets urea (at least some portion of it) from the Potash Corp plant in Lima, Ohio a few other def distributers moral of the story is none of them really 'make it'. so id say along as it carries the api cert I'd run it

Which is why I prefaced mine with a disclaimer...
Especially since this is the year of fake news and I only see it getting worse as even some main stream media outlets get stung by it.
I do happen to know of low lifes that replace used water cartridges for their refrigerator and return them to Home Depot... I'd never buy a water cartridge that wasn't in a factory sealed hard plastic case.

Like the myth that the cab has to be lifted to do anything on a 6.0, the myth that diesels need to be driven 100+ miles per day and that Gassers pull just as well as a diesel

Let's add:
And Dodges get 30 mpg pulling 20k lbs... Silver trucks are better.
Only problems I've actually seen was the effects of putting DEF in the fuel tank.
I've bought the cheap stuff all over the country and even in Canada and Blue DEF and never had an issue afte 75K and mine is now up to 115K total miles.
