Well, still working bugs out of this 1989 F150 4x4 4.9 5speed. Just fixed my heat. Could not get anything. It had very little air flow, could not change the flow from defrost to floor, temp control lever was working the cable behind the glove box very little. Pulled the control lever/ selector switch assembly from the dash and found a bent temp control cable, I did my best to make it straight again and lubed it up with a graphite lube. That seems to be fine now but I know it will bend again and break, (because Murphy was watching and they are no longer available). Next I went to the blower motor and pulled it. While lifting it out I saw some blades of grass inside the wheel. Took it over and blew it and the motor out with compressor. Went back to the housing and got a huge surprise. The housing was packed side to side and top to bottom with cut blades of grass. I lost count of the number of loads I took out by hand. Once I got the heavy amount out I took the shop vac to it and the compressor blow gun too. I am so glad I found this when I did. The old dry grass was packed all around the resistor bank for the blower motor. I have to think that if I had kept trying to heat the truck up I would have caught the grass on fire. The truck heats up great now but the motor has a high pitch noise it produces. I know the last owner had it parked on the grass next to some other vehicles, I'm guessing that's where they moved in.
