"Restore" to what, fuel injection?

There's lots of DSII swap threads to browse.

I am no fan of removing EFI, but in the 85/86 trucks, the EFI wiring is essentially a complete and separate harness that passes through the firewall to the ECM mounted behind the dash. It can be removed completely and cleanly leaving behind the cab and underhood wiring which is not significantly different from the earlier carbureted trucks.

Now, I do not know what has been wire nutted and spliced in your truck, but it likely is related to the changes necessary to install the ignition system compatible with your carbureted application. Chances are , you are on your own here and what you need to do is to correct the previously sloppy workmanship. Best approach is to remove what clearly is not factory and reinstall the components properly. Pics of what you are up against would help.

I should add that if the electric fuel pumps were retained in the carburetor conversion, the wiring for these pumps will have been hopelessly Frankensteined, compromising safety and reliability. One more reason for retaining EFI.

Wiring diagrams are available here: 1986 EVTM - ???Gary's Garagemahal. Just pick the category you are interested in at the time and click on the link. And note that there are troubleshooting tips at the bottom of each set of pages as well as descriptions on how things work.

DuraSpark-II was Ford's ignition system that needed no computer input.

Can you post some pictures of the drivers side inner fender, your distributor/coil and the top of your engine with the air cleaner removed?

This would help us identify what wiring has been hacked and how best to approach your restoration.

DuraSpark II ignition is pretty simple and reliable in my 28 year experience with this truck.

That is a DS-II ignition module, and it is the right one. See the blue grommet where the wires come out? That proves it is the right module.

What do you have labeled "solenoid" over by the ignition coil?
I'm thinking it may be the radio suppression condenser?

I'm not sure what the lone red wire is that goes around behind the relay and disappears behind the dual reservoir.
That doesn't seem stock.

The red, white lead from the module should plug into a harness connection that is white, red.
I.e. the wire colors are reversed at that C321 connector.

Cut wires are probably coming from the EEC.
There was a thread about the correct rubber firewall grommet (boot?) to cover the hole left when removing the computer completely.
I don't remember the part number right now,, but I do remember that I found it on eBay for that person in the other thread.

Painless sells an expensive 'kit'
It's around $200 for seven wires and six plugs, but it does have the impossible to find distributor connector.
