I have a 92 f150 and wanting to change the capacitors before they give me problems.
From what I gather I need one 10uf and two 47uf capacitors, but what voltage do you all recommend I use?
And when you use mouser website they ask several questions and I don't know much about these things, so what's the technical name for these capacitors?
Alright well I posted in the wrong thread, but I'll post pics here too.
ECM # out of a 92 f150. Only two capacitors. I already removed the one lower right. Going to clean the board as you can see it has a lot of dirt in it. Old vs new The negative leg has a yellowish discoloration on it. New cap installed.
I ordered a different cap for the other one, it's a 3.3uf cap and I ordered what most order for these ecms, so have to wait a few days for that one.
Hmm, looks like a 1990 date on the circuit board. I didn't think the 2-capacitor boards arrived on the scene that early. Also looks like a cast AL case along with a 1992 part# on the calibration sticker. There too, I didn't think those appeared until later in the 90's.

I suspect that's exactly what it is. Just looked through some of my spare PCM's, and 1994 seems to be about when the switch-over to the cast AL case with a simple lid that comes off with six hex-head (6mm?)bolts.
I have a replacement PCM that came out of a 1991 F-150 and it looks just like yours.
Has a 92 casting.
Where do you find the AL?
Mine has six 7/32 screws.[/i]
Interesting that the casting date is indeed 1992. Maybe they didn't feed these things into production in an orderly way.
I was just guessing at the size being 6mm. It's actually 5.5mm if a 7/32" socket works.
Not sure what you're saying regarding finding the ALuminum. It's what the later cases are made of rather than the stamped galvanized steel of the earlier ones.
OK now I see what your saying, aluminum casing.
I didn't read close enough.
I'm just assuming this is the OEM ECM to my truck.
The PO put in a roller 5.0 motor when I first bought it.
Didn't know that till I pulled it because the #6 piston cracked.
So not sure if they used a different ECM too.
