computer ECM pcm capacitors.
I have a 92 f150 and wanting to change the capacitors before they give me problems.
From what I gather I need one 10uf and two 47uf capacitors, but what voltage do you all recommend I use? And when you use mouser website they ask several questions and I don't know much about these things, so what's the technical name for these capacitors? Thanks. |

Thanks, I will order them tonight.
|
Note on mine it takes 2 of the #1 and 1 of the #2.
The order was for 2 PCM Computer + extras. |
that image should be a sticky ... along with a lot of your other images, subford.
thanks for all you do ! |
Making it a sticky would save a lot of time and questions.
Just ordered enough to do two computers. Thanks subford. |
Alright well I posted in the wrong thread, but I'll post pics here too.https://cimg0.ibsrv.net/gimg/www.for...c3ff6497fa.jpgECM # out of a 92 f150.
https://cimg5.ibsrv.net/gimg/www.for...32cac58826.jpgOnly two capacitors. I already removed the one lower right. https://cimg2.ibsrv.net/gimg/www.for...7ff7827e61.jpgGoing to clean the board as you can see it has a lot of dirt in it. https://cimg8.ibsrv.net/gimg/www.for...d0081eb2f0.jpgOld vs new https://cimg8.ibsrv.net/gimg/www.for...9be5a3d247.jpgThe negative leg has a yellowish discoloration on it. https://cimg9.ibsrv.net/gimg/www.for...ae69fce8d6.jpg https://cimg6.ibsrv.net/gimg/www.for...4af06d00e9.jpgNew cap installed. I ordered a different cap for the other one, it's a 3.3uf cap and I ordered what most order for these ecms, so have to wait a few days for that one. |
Hmm, looks like a 1990 date on the circuit board. I didn't think the 2-capacitor boards arrived on the scene that early. Also looks like a cast AL case along with a 1992 part# on the calibration sticker. There too, I didn't think those appeared until later in the 90's.
Things that make you go Hmmmmmmm..... |

Do you think it's not the original ECM?
I have a replacement PCM that came out of a 1991 F-150 and it looks just like yours. |
https://cimg2.ibsrv.net/gimg/www.for...3618c6fda7.jpgHas a 92 casting.
Where do you find the AL? Mine has six 7/32 screws. |

Has a 92 casting.

Not sure what you're saying regarding finding the ALuminum. It's what the later cases are made of rather than the stamped galvanized steel of the earlier ones. |
OK now I see what your saying, aluminum casing.
I didn't read close enough. I'm just assuming this is the OEM ECM to my truck. The PO put in a roller 5.0 motor when I first bought it. Didn't know that till I pulled it because the #6 piston cracked. So not sure if they used a different ECM too. |
