4x4 question
I just bought a 2016 4x4 F350, on the front hub is three positions auto, free and lock. Now in order for the 4 wheel drive to work from the cab I take it the hub should be in auto. I know what lock is for but what is free for. Thanks.

i guess "free" would be to make sure that it would never lock. Not sure why you would ever use it. Mine only have lock or auto - no free.

Auto is 12:00, lock is 6:00 and free is 3:00. Maybe it's for flat towing.

but "auto" is "free" as long as the 4wd isn't engaged. That's why it seems odd

Well I put on my glasses got a bright light and was going to take a pick, and my mistake only two spots auto and lock.
