On Friday I took my 2000 Explorer in because the rear wiper didn't work. They fixed it. I had also mentioned that sometimes it feels like the transmission shifts at the wrong up or down. So they looked into it as well but found "nothing wrong". They even performed a transmission test and it passed.
So I bring it home Friday night and park in the garage. It sits Saturday and Sunday because I have no life Monday morning comes and I get in it but the dang thing won't start! It turns over but dies. Fun fun. It goes back to the dealer....my dad finally got it started. They tell me they had to replace the broken idle valve. Um....why did I have no problem with this before and why did it happen just after they messed with the transmission. Are they near one another? I don't have the manual to look because it is in the car at the dealer ahaha. Are they charging me for something they broke???
help please
thanks kindly.....i am glad to know this since first I don't know ANYTHING about engines (yes dumb girl) and second I can't look at my manual ahaha. Maybe it was all just a bad coincidence I guess
Yup! At FPN, they sell the IAC's for $74.99 each plus shipping. It's not cheap but I guess it's one of those things that needs to be replaced.
BTW, there's an alternative to replacing it. I'll be doing the same thing when I go home this weekend because mine is doing the same thing yours is doing. If the cleaning doesn't help, I'll be replacing it.
I had a IAC just give out all together one day, now warnings
or hesitations or unusual sounds like many posters here have gotten. It's possible that it just went bad also. I am getting ready to replace my wifes, found it for $60 at NAPA. Her engine makes a loud foghorn type whaling noise during idle, but the engine keeps running
