Emergency brake cable hitting shift levers 52 f1

Emergency brake cable is hitting shift levers on 3 speed column shift 52 F1

Does anyone have any pictures of how cable is routed by bottom of steering column and shift levers. I see one clamp on bell housing that I believe should be mounted to clutch cover bolt.

Cable hits cotter pins on shift levers.

Any help appreciated

Tom

There is a cast-on section on the e-brake cable that the clamp on the trans fits. Once you attach it correctly it will clear the shifters. I had the same issue.

Thanks Ross

I can see from your picture that the clamp in my case is in the wrong place.

I will take care of it tomorrow.

Thanks again for sharing the info.

See the marks left by the cable, on the clutch cover, right above where the cable is now? That's where it used to sit, and that's when it hit the levers.

Ross

From underneath it looks like mine is attached where used to be attached. Tomorrow I will take off the access cover and check it out.

Ross I am new to this 52 F1, what chassis parts catalog CD do you recommend. I want to be able to identify the parts with drawings. I have a 49 Ford convertible and the accompanying parts books.

Thanks,

Tom

You can get the 48-56 Parts CD, which includes Illustrations and Listings, here:
1948-56 Ford Truck Master Parts Catalog CD - HiPo Parts Garage

If you already are familiar with the Ford numbering system, you'll have no trouble using it.

Ross

Thanks for the parts CD info.

Also got my emergency brake / shifter issue resolved. Moved clamp to location you outlined. My cable looks to be shorter than original.

Can't run it along cab and then to clamp. Still close to shifters but nolonger rubbing.

Thanks again for your help.
