Mustangmatt's Supercab
Somehow, when I wired the radio I wired it to a always on source, I could've sworn I checked twice. I added a fuse panel wired for key on and wired the radio that way. It has additional slots for later. Today I set out to figure out why the blower motor wasn't working. I figured the motor itself was bad but I checked before I pulled the heater box apart. Turns out the blower motor relay was bad, blower motor now works better than I expected it to. I also fixed the dim headlight issue. I wanted to run around town in it but my wife wouldn't ride in it with a squeaky belt. I had an issue getting the registration renewed and wasn't able to drive the truck for a month. They told me they had no record of the bill of sale and needed me to pay the taxes on the average value, which they say was $12,500. Long story short, my wife misplaced the bill of sale and I went to see if there was something else I could to to register the truck and they said there was no issue with it and I registered it no problem.
I'm going to fix the squeaky belt tomorrow and try and drive it to both the parties we were invited to.
-Coolant leaking from rear most freeze-plug on passenger side, attempted to repair with rubber plug but someone used stop leak and caused the area below the hole to become rock solid, eventually sealed with the second brass plug.
-Loss of oil pressure on highway, changed oil added lucas
-Loss of oil pressure, overheating, lifters clattering while taking load of trash to the local dump, pulled over for 10 minutes no more problems for the remainder of the trip
-Unexplained loss of coolant while taking an old couch to the local dump, filled coolant no issues on entire trip
-Loss of oil pressure, overheating, coolant leaking from lower radiator hose on radiator, smoke from drivers head
Last one was this morning and I'm completely fed up with chasing the issues down with an engine that does not want to cooperate. This engine needs a rebuild but I have no desire to build the engine after the 351C in my Mach 1 has nickle and dimed me to death. I know someone with a 90's F-250 with a 7.3 that has a bad body. I've worked out a deal with him to buy the truck and I'm going to put the '77 body on the 90's chassis. I fell in love with the idea of a 7.3 dent side when I stumbled on a video on youtube. Plus I'm a heavy equipment mechanic.
