My driver's side power mirror broke today. The case is what broke so it will not stay in place. I have searched the site and see aftermarket mirrors are junk. I don't have to have power mirror. In fact I'd like the chrome mirrors that are more for towing. See link below. Will these mirrors cover the existing holes for the old mirror? I don't think a mirror from a wrecking yard is a good idea due to age. Any other options? Thanks.

Thanks Wheelman. Something to consider. I'm OK with this mirror style but since one of mine broke, I am considering getting larger mirrors. We'll see. I just put some epoxy on the old mirror hoping to buy a little time.
I have had a few pairs of replacement power mirrors for these trucks over the years and always ended up going back to OEM. They always vibrated too much. Some even whistle at highway speed. I'm actually about to swap out a pair that is a year old for some used originals that are in alright shape.
Its getting difficult to find good used ones that aren't sunburned. Some people clean them up and repaint them. That looks like one of the better options.
I've considered switching to the swing away type mirrors before, but never did since it doesn't appear to be a direct swap.
Glenn. Make sure to get some Christmas tree clips for those door panels. I've found these to be the best. Also use the 3M spray adhesive to put the inner door plastic back in place.
The OE mirrors are discontinued. Maybe number dummy can find some. Had I been able to find new OE I likely would have used OE.
I've put 5,000 miles on my truck with the 1Aauto mirrors, including 1,500 miles of bad washboard or worse down in Terlingua. The mirrors have held up so far.
On another note the window sweeps from 1Aauto did not work for me. I bought a set from autonationfordwhitebearlake and they are perfect.
Do you know of a mirror that is a direct bolt on? Of course I don't mind drilling holes but would like to be able to cover existing holes. Thanks.
There were only 3 mirror options in these years
The sport(small mirror with 2 screws holding it on)
The western swing away(4 bolt total{2 top/2 bottom)
The gooseneck(triangular shaped bracket with 2 bolts at the top and one in each bottom leg)
The gooseneck and sport mirror share the same top pattern. You would just need to drill the 2 lower holes for the gooseneck support legs.
Here is a gooseneck mirror(dont mind the light and wiring, I added that)
In the pic the mirror is folded out. It can also be folded in for narrower applications
The doors that had the swing-away mirrors have a reinforcement on the inside of the door skin where the lower bolts attach. If you try to mount those mirrors on your doors without the reinforcement, the door skin will flex and dent, and possibly crack. You'll also have some exposed holes at the top of the door, since the mounting holes are closer spaced than your current stock mirrors.
I'm actually doing the opposite conversion you're doing. My Bronco came with the swing-away mirrors, which frankly I hate, and converting to power mirrors.
My driver side broke just as yours. Old plastic. I had already sprayed plenty of lube into the base but it was too late to help.
I tried a junkyard replacement but it broke the same way.
If you decide to just replace it consider this one from Rockauto (or your favorite parts house):
DORMAN 955265 {#F7TZ17682BAB} (Power - Mirror adjusts electronically with buttons inside the car
That was only a couple of months ago but the quality feel was there and I expect it will last many years. Bolted right in. Makes the rest of the truck look old. Time for a paint job...then full interior...frame cleanup and undercoating...gah!

Mirror folded in
That's good information, thanks Brad. Do you know what a 1990 truck had as an option? My 1990 C&C had a gooseneck style mirror but also bolted to the very top of the door. Any idea what this style was called? They worked great.
My 94 has the sport mirrors, I really dislike them. Even with my seat all the way back, I have to turn my head way too much. I'm assuming because of the vent window, they had to mount it too far back.
Thanks to everyone for all the good info. seschenburg, does the Dorman have any vibration or other issues?

1990 had the western swing aways and the gooseneck.
Some people put Jr west coast mirrors on like you are describing on your C&C. Verizon had a Ton of these on their 92-97 F-superdutys
If you swap the mirror basses from side to side on the gooseneck, it pushed the mirrors Forward to make them more usable. BUT if you swing the heads in, the passenger wing window bar blocks the part of the mirror. I Did this on my silver/white truck because I Never planned on swinging the mirror heads in
No vibration issues. When you get in there you'll see that the two screws on the outside are assisted by a bolt on the inside to hold it all in place. The mirror is as stable as the OEM mirror and honestly could pass for OEM. It really is that good.
