Your o-rings that separate the two fluids in the oil-cooler have failed most likely. Get the OEM o-rings from Riffraff. The job is pretty easy, but it helps to have a helper. You will want to drain coolant, including block plugs, and drain oil. You may want to also flush coolant system to clear out the engine oil. Take you time re-installing oil-cooler so you get gaskets lined up good.
Oil in your coolant reservoir can also be an indication of a gasket leak on one of the oil cooler heads.
As for life-expectancy... each of my three 7.3's ran past the 200K mile mark before needing new o-rings. I've since put nearly 100K on one of them with no further leaks (the other two have been sold, so I can't speak to their durability).
