I am trying to find out more information about this motorcraft lift motor- it has Part# EMJ-4006M. But I can't see to locate what it did and what cars. Anyone have any ideas?
It's not Motorcraft, it's Autolite. At that time period, Autolite was an OE supplier to many different companies. High end luxury cars could be had with power convertible tops, power windows, and other features that would use a motor like that.
FoMoCo purchased Auto-Lite in the early 1960's, but was forced by the US Gov't to sell it in 1972, as the Gov't claimed FoMoCo had a monopoly on parts.
This looks like a 6 volt motor due to the cloth covered wiring. The letter J in a Ford part number prefix refers to industrial parts. 4000 group is rear axle parts.
So, this might be a two speed rear axle motor, but for what I dunno. The 1948/55 Ford truck 6 volt two speed motor is: B2Q-4100-A
thanks NumberDummy!
the Motor has 12V stamped in at the end of the part#. I was assuming it was a 12 volt motor, but maybe it is a missing link to the part# itself?
