Why would they have oil pump problems now. This motor has been in production for more than 6 years.
Doesn't make any sense.
It is an extremely solid engine and is the class leader by far. (Sorry, Duramax and don't make laugh about Cummins)
Very few catastrophic failures have been reported and most of those are in F-450 range and above where use is strictly commercial.
I know this because after my 60K mile 2011 engine failed immediately after a dealer oil change (the truck never made it off the rack, I blame human error), I researched the failure history pretty thoroughly. This was in early 2016 and Ford put a new engine in the truck.
You will always have people spouting BS; it's the Internet of Things.
Ford made a commitment to the Scorpion engine program after the 6.4 Navistar disaster and it is paying off.
No truth to this! I spoke to a KY plant employee today and he said they were working 24/7. Bad news was they are behind by approximately 15000 trucks. Biggest slowdown is seat suppliers having trouble keeping up.
Anybody know anything about this? It is posted over at The Diesel Stop.
Production halted on 2017 diesels?
Has anyone else heard about this?
Dealership said there is a problem with 2017 PSD and the factory is not building any new trucks with a diesel until it is sorted out? Apparently it has to do with a faulty oil pump?
My dealer was dropping a new engine into a 2017 this week. The owner took it home and 150km later the engine seized.
Now they are rebuilding the engine in my dad's 2011 PSD, it had catastrophic engine failure. They are now putting a 2017 block in it.
I just saw a recent you tube video of a brand new f350 diesel with little miles and the tranny pan is pissing oil like crazy.... check it out! Scary stuff! Thank god I ordered the gasser.

Reason: Adding a you tube link

The comments say it is the transmission leak (which is easily fixed) but it looks like engine oil. The video is terrible, its hard to see if it really is dripping (maybe it is) but it isn't common to see a few vehicles here and there have issues.
My 2017 has 3500 miles on it now and is running perfectly.

If a person were to dig hard enough, they could find a youtube video of your gasser spinning the wrong direction!!! After all, it IS on the internet, so it must be true!!!!!
If a person is gullible enough to believe internet BS vs actually looking at the huge number of trucks that are on the road, that never post on the 'net, and are absolutely trouble free; well...................................

You have a good point and I'd agree 100%, "IF" I hadn't been one of the 1st people to have had a 6.0 grenade itself due an injector issue "BEFORE" Injector issues became all the rage... I own a 7.5 gasser, and 6.0 and a 6.7 diesels. There is no comparison between the 3, and I plan to get another 6.7 soon to avoid the 6.0's service/reliability issues... I'm just a bit hesitant now that there are rumors about issues with the 6.7, true or false... Would you not be given the circumstances...? I want it to be not true just as much as anyone...
"Fool me once, shame on me. Fool me twice, shame on FORD"...
Let's hope it is indeed all Internet BS and the 6.7 proves to be the engine we all hope it is in the long run because that is what we spend the $$$ for...

And there are still 6.0's AND the infamous 6.4's out there that are still doing just like the Eveready Bunny........going and going and going........and have in excess of 2-300,000 miles on them!!! I have a friend that buys the 6.4's because he can get them cheap and runs the hell out of them!! And he says "Thank You, Internet"!!Yes, the odds are greater with those engines!
I had issues with my 2015 KR, DRW 6.7 PSD, ( not the engine, but the fuel system) which I believe were mostly started by electronic issues, but to throw the baby out with the bath water is rather ridiculous. When I was having the issues, I seriously considered other brands, but having been around a bunch of Cummins products (not in pickups) and having been burned bad with GM with their product, I couldn't bring myself to switch, and traded the '15 for a '16 that was equipped the same as the '15.
And the '16 has been flawless so far! But......to each their own!
