Long story short, I have a 1995 F150 BLOWN 300 I6 happened 2 weeks ago, I just picked up a 1990 F150 with a NICE 351w in it that runs Great, but body is rough see where I am going....What I am wanting to know is what is involved in swpping the 351 into the 95? 90 is automatic 95 is manual this will fit i know. I am staying with the manual trans in the 95, questions are, fuel lines will they hook up no problems, engine harness do I or can I use the 90 harness in the 95 and will it plug right in no problems same with the ecu? This is my daily driver I am a single dad that is a disabled vet so money is tight I cant hold the truck up for a long time or am I best to just fix up the 90? Thanks in advance, remember I have the complete truck so parts issues are not a problem fitment is the question...
You're going to swap the engine perches (crossmember horns) over to the other truck.
Also the radiator and fan shroud. Just cap the transmission cooler fittings on the side.
You need to get a flywheel with proper balance for the 351.
Is your '95 MAF or SD? Since it's a manual I suspect it is SD which would be good since the '90 is SD for sure. The 5.8 engine wiring harness will not just plug into the chassis harness on your '95 however, the connectors are totally different, and you may need a different PCM if the '90 has the computer controlled E4OD... trans code E on the drivers door pillar and an OD off switch on the dash or shifter.
the 90 does have an e40d but i was going to keep the 5spd in the 95 and just swap the motor into it. should I look for a 95 5.8 engine harness and will that work on the 90 motor?
You could use any SD engine harness(5.0 or 5.8) that has the same chassis block connector as your truck, I believe that started in 92 but I'm not sure.
