Changed the cap, rotor, coil, and wires tonight after work. Went with the 9mm Ford racing wires. Sometime in next week or so, i'll replace the spark plugs.
I would start soaking the plugs now so they should come out easier.

Oh yeah, i've been soaking them in PB a few separate occasions over the past two weeks. They look awfully crusty, so hopefully i don't have any issues.
Had to pull my cluster apart again last night. The voltage gauge in the cluster with the odometer that I swapped into the truck was bad, so i took the gauge motor from my original cluster. Also the glue on the faces on both temp/oil pressure and voltage/fuel gauges, let loose, so i just set those back in place and hit them with a couple dabs of plastic weld action. Good as new. Replaced the trim piece around the cluster as well, as a previous owner once just ripped it off and broke it, so it had a few cracks in it.
On Friday I rolled 100,000 miles.
I took the week off of work to get caught up on a million outstanding projects. Today, I replaced the fuel filter, some vacuum lines, replaced the support brackets for the passenger side running board, and repaired the trans pan to frame ground strap. Also found a power steering leak. It seems like its coming from the cooler hard line, but i'm not sure if its coming from up higher. I need to get a closer look tomorrow. I wish I replaced the fuel filter and went over vac lines sooner. Its like a different truck. It actually gets out of its own way now.
The typical suggestions are 12-14. There are a lot of variables that dictate how much timing an engine will tolerate - engine wear, elevation, fuel quality, combustion chamber efficiency, accuracy of timing marks, etc....if you know how to listen for ping, you can advance it until it pings then back off a degree or 2. That's how I always time my stuff, at least anything with these old inefficient combustion chambers.
Got it. Thank you. I do know how to listen for ping, so i'll bump it up eventually when I get some time. Immediatly after doing the fuel filter and vacuum lines, I got a power steering leak. I'm not sure if its coming from the power steering cooler hardline, or if its coming from above that, I really can't tell, something else to worry about at another time. I think before this winter, I need to go over the entire cooling system.
Also, I put a backrack on it. For two reasons, one, I moved a friend recently, and had a couple close calls breaking that rear slider. Also me and the woman have 10'6" stand up paddleboards that i'd like to be able to move around a little bit easier. Now i'm looking for a lowp rofile diamond plate toolbox.
I haven't updated in a while, but i've done some things recently.
Original speakers replaced with Kickers.
I just got some fresh paint on the frame.
Realized that my transfer case isn't shifting into neutral or 4lo. The linkage is probably seized, going to check that out tonight. This weekend hoping to get an interior and exterior detail pre - winter. I've got husky liners on the way, next thing is a tool box for the bed.
