Hello everyone! Long time lurker first time poster. I made an account because recently I bought a 1992 F250 with a 460 with 144,750Mi . Its a VERY powerful truck but I hear a weird noise I cant pin point it. I replaced the belts and the tensioner pulley and I am still hearing the noise. I think I have it narrowed down to the water pump or the A/C compressor when I pulled the belt off I moved all the pulleys and they move freely but it sounds like a bearing somewhere. It goes away when I am driving the truck but once its stopped it comes back.
Try putting a stick/screwdriver/broken broom handle against your ear and touch each part. The noise will travel up the stick and to your ear and you can more easily pinpoint the source.
With the wind noise it was kind hard to determine. Could be alternator? They typically wear and make noise. Remove the belt and spin it and see if it sounds kinda rough.
