Thumbs up Carb/Intake/Cam combo

I have a 1978 f-250 Super Cab with the 400. It is stock with the 2 barrel motorcraft carb. I am looking at some minor upgrades for power as well as gas mileage. Does anyone have any good recommendations on a cam/intake/carb setup that has been strong power wise and get moderatley mpg? I know most of these will not get great mileage and I have looked over the forums and have seen different people talk about 7 to 17 mpg and wanted to see what they used for a setup. Also has anyone had any recommendations on what headers, if any, provide good increases with a minimum to moderate noise level and won't heat up the starter and undercarriage too bad? Thanks for your help.

My votes for edelbrock also. Save yourself some greif and get all the parts that are designed to work together. Dont expect earth shatering power but you WILL notice more power and should get better milleage than stock. Just my $0.02
