The Tailgate

This is just a personal observation of two minor annoyances (because I'm still loving the truck) regarding the tailgate.

I picked up my first load of gravel the other day, and this is partially my fault for not paying attention, but I now have like five pounds of gravel inside the tailgate.

The 2016 tailgate has a few huge holes in the bottom. I don't think my previous trucks had such large holes, because I never got much, if any gravel into them. These are cut almost as if to catch whatever you're shoveling or sweeping out of the bed. I didn't realize it until it was too late. I've been opening and slamming shut the tailgate for the last couple of days and watching gravel trickle back out. Another year or so of that and it should all be out.

Second annoyance, I took some of said gravel up to my mailbox this morning to fix a pothole there. Because of the issue the other day, I dropped the tailgate and put a half sheet of plywood down along the tailgate and bed. I've never had a truck with a backup camera before, so don't know if it's standard on all pickups, but the camera is apparently in the tailgate, so with the tailgate down, you get a view of what's below the bumper. Sadly, as today the camera would have been convenient for when I was driving back and forth over my fill to pack it down. Kinda wish it was mounted at the license plate area. Oh well.

Again, just a couple of minor annoyances to complain about. On the bright side, the truck hauled a half yard of gravel with no problem. My old 2002 F-150 didn't even have the payload capacity for a full half ton in the bed. Which I overreacted to by getting an F250 diesel. Now I've downsized again, but have hit a sweet spot on payload (partially thanks to the aluminum I think) for the kind of stuff I do nowadays. So happy overall.

I've had a truck with the camera on the bumper and you loose the depth perception. I love the camera up on the tailgate so I can easily see how far to back up to the trailer.

Same here. Factory camera on my 2010, aftermarket camera on the license plate frame of my 2014. Both worked ok. It's just the tail gate camera is better for hook up.
