last week I picked up a 2016 F-350 with the 6.7 diesel.
Since then I have put about 4500 miles on it and gone through 2 or 3 regenerations. About half the miles were empty, half were with about 1500lbs of cargo in the bed. Mostly interstate driving at about 70mph.
However, every time the "cleaning exhaust filter" message comes on in the screen it feels like the truck looses all power for a second. The first time I was going up hill with cruise control set at 70 and it felt like stomping the brakes then hitting the gas all within a second maybe.
Has anyone else experienced this? I have no 6.7 experience so I'm not sure if this is normal or if I need to worry...
The only thing that's different during regen in my 2014 is the instantainous mileage is lower. If it wasn't for that I would never know it was in regen if I miss the message.
My 2016 f250 has done it a few times, most noticeably when the cruise control is on. If I'm working the throttle pedal my self I've never noticed it happen. Each time it's done it it was almost as if you hit the cancel button for the cruise then immediately hit resume. I've put 19,500 miles on it though with no problems. I can usually tell if it regens if the radio and HVAC fans are turned down low because the pitch of the diesel sound changes slightly, but there's no power loss and its never done the jackhammer issue I've seen others complain about.
Just got a 16 myself a little bit ago. Never felt anything when the message came up. I've since used Forscan to enable the screen to let me monitor the % full the DPF is so I'm usually paying attention when it starts cleaning. Been through it way too many times in my opinion (every few hundred miles) with both the cruise on and off and never felt anything.
I have yet to feel any change what so ever when my 13 goes into a regen cycle....I only know when it happens because the message comes up on the message center....
My '16 does a mild stutter, much like an AC cycling on a gas burner at idle. Nothing big, but perceptible to a gearhead. When I first got the truck, I felt every regen, now I'll overlook one occasionally. Typically I Feel the stutter and within a count of ten, the "cleaning exhaust filter" message appears. Pretty normal from threads I've read.
Just to confirm....you put 4500 miles on your new truck in one week and you've only gone through 2 or 3 regens??? That's not right at all, did you have the dealer install the "DPF %" icon to your dash info center? My '16 went through it's first regen at 175 miles and now with 4100 miles it does it every 300 miles or so. If what you say is true you need to get it checked.
