Emergency lighting?

Anyone got emergency lighting or other custom lighting in their trucks?

Looking for ideas, state and local laws will only allow for amber/clear maybe green.

Just thinking of adding visibility in case I stop on a roadside or other various situations.

My truck is a 1996 f150 with a single cab/long box

Are you looking to mount lights or do a hide a way type thing ? Led's are cheap now, or like I did to a few, mount strobes in the reverse lights and front signals for plowing.

Im not against mounting, but hideaway mostly, simply because when i bought the truck, the headliner was already down because previous owner did similar stuff.

I definitely want to do corner strobes, just not sure who makes a medium kit, what I mean is not expensive, but not cheap chineese stuff either

Yes it does, but really only run them parked at car shows at night. I do run the running boards all the time at night and the small ones in the grille steady on no strobes.

But you still have to run a power on/off unless you want them on all the time or wire them to your current lights correct? Meaning you still have to go through the firewall for your switch?

With prostrobe it's wireless, no wires enter inside the vehicle just stright to the control box hooked to the battery. Keeping a clean look inside and out.

I do belive these would be great in the wheel wells and underneath but the cost is a little much for 6 leds.

Mine came with 8 sets of two leds together for $19.99

I think Im mostly going for grill leds, hidden up top of windshield, hidden in back windshield, and ill need some on the side for intersection warning.

I like the wireless idea, but im not opposed to running wires either, like I said the last guy had stuff like that so hes already made pass thru spots in the firewall for me.

you get what you pay for with emergency lighting.
i use only whelen 90 watt strobe boxes for the 4 hide away tubes.
and up top i now run a whelen Justice LED bar on top of the 02.
a whelen responder strobe bar on the 04,
a federal jetstrobe bar on the 88
and code 3 MX 7000 rotator bars on the 79's.
the Code 3 bars are the lowest visibility, and they can still be seen from over 1/4 mile during the day and 3/4 mile at night.
the strobe bars are visible from 1/2 mile day and over a mile at night, the led bar is visible from over a mile during the day and over 2 miles at night.

I agree with Tom, you get what you pay for when considering professional lighting vs "show" lighting. Whelen is the age old "standard" in emergency vehicle lighting but SoundOff Signal is eating into their business heavily as they equal performance, same 5 year warranty and are somewhat less expensive. The company I work for features SoundOff Signal and we supply them to many P.D.'s and the DOT. Personally the old style hideaway strobes are more visible than LED hideaways. With rooftop or interior lightbars or perimeter lighting I'd suggest LED. Federal Signal and SVP/Star Signal are quality, PSE/Code 3 is no more, and also check out Maxxima's E. V. Lighting. Traffic Directors are great rear lighting, installing one now on my Backrack. Check Fleabay for used equipmemt deals on LED's.

Now you're really undecided!

when did PSE/Code 3 go under Steve?
all my bars are older and bought used except for the Code 3's. i bought them back in the late 80's
i have heard good things about the sound off and star strobe boxes, but never tried them.
i used to get the whelen boxes out of the decommissioned police cars, and still have 3 in stock on the shelf. getting the boxes and tubes for free and only having to pay for the cables saves a lot of money.
