I'm most likely going to get a gasser 250 FX4 but I've read a ton of conflicting information on CNG. There's a fueling station less that a mile from my house, so accessibility isn't going to be a factor for me. It's everything else I have no clue about.
How does CNG affect the mechanics of the engine and the lifespan of the engine?
Does it affect HP and/or torque? How?
Can I use 87 and CNG at the same time or do I need to reroute the plumbing first? I assume this won't be a weekend fixerupper and an actual mechanic will have to do this.
CNG equipped truck, you will run your truck on either Gas or CNG. The truck will be equipped with both. If the truck is coming from Ford equipped with CNG, you will be good to go. It should effect the longevity of the motor. While running on CNG, you will notice a little decline in HP and fuel mileage. CNG is a great alternative fuel to use. We have them in our trucks here at work. We have a Yukon we use for trips to our outlying areas and we mainly run it on CNG all the time. We have our gas tank full at all times for when the CNG runs low and have to switch over to CNG.
Also, having the CNG will increase your driving range probably at a minimum by about 200 miles.
