Ah, your referring to the blend door I assume. The blend door on those is manipulated by a servo motor. The window/vent/floor control is vacuum. The hubs are not leaking. This was actually the bottom of the blend door where it couples to the servo. It is a common fail point.
Sounds like you have found the problem and fixed it.

We're at 23° with a slight Southerly breeze.
