Any thoughts on using a NOS grille shell on a not so pretty truck? I found an original grille shell in the box along with inserts also in Ford boxes. I'm thinking that they're so rare, it might be a waste to use them on it is all. Thoughts please?
Well, since it is in your hands it is completely up to you what you want to do with it. But I am sure there might be some restoration guys out there who would love to have it over a repop.

I share your opinion that an NOS grill & inserts would be a waste on a run of the mill Dentside.
I suggest a win-win situation to trade the NOS unit for a daily driver grill shell plus cash to a fellow FTE'er who is seeking a grill shell in excellent/mint condition. You get a nice grill and some cash to spend while the buyer gets a good deal.
Street value to the right buyer, in my opinion, is $700 to $800. Remember, these trucks have yet to become "collectible" so your supply/demand price point is lower than say, an original steel '32 Ford grill.
Thanks to FTE good guy "gangstakr" for turning me on to Ebay '70 NOS grill shell with inserts below... also got an NOS 71-77 steering wheel. Total was about $400 IIRC.
Last turkey day I pirated an all steel grill, headlight doors, turn signals & housings for $18 at the salvage yard. No, that's not a typo...
I'm gonna have to buy more trucks to put these on.... LOL.
An excellent Dent grill off a 76-77 for $35... with inserts. The turn signal housings were already gone.
I'm leaning that direction...I'd like to find someone to buy my grille then I can re-invest in other precious metal/parts I need. I'm not sure I'd get around to fully restoring the truck where, then I think it may warrant an original.

Mikeo0o0o0 is doing a sweet and detailed resto on "The Pumpkin"... a slo-mo-resto.
I'm not sure if he has an NOS grill but he would be the lead candidate I can think of.
