New warning messages...sometimes

a few months ago, my '15 SCREW was in the shop for about a week for a multitude of error messages that, at one time, completely rendered the truck un-startable...was finally attributed to "several bad splices in factory wiring harnesses).

now, within the past few weeks, I've been getting 2 warning messages at random times (sometimes at initial startup, sometimes driving down the road).

service advance-trac
hill decent controll fault

sometimes when the errors appear, they only stay a minute or so, sometimes, until the truck is restarted.

in the previous problem, the dealership saw NO CODES in the computer, but was able to duplicate the problem (I did notice that the park brake bracket no longer has the junction box attached to it )

anyone else have this issue with error messages & what was done to remedy the situation? I'd prefer to give the service department some hints instead of waiting 3 days for them to even figure out what is wrong with it.

I am having the same issue with my truck.(actually my wife is as I'm currently in Saudi) both warnings start coming on last week. she is taking it in today to have them look into it. i will let you know what they say.

?? is it covered under the 100,000 mile powertrain warranty?? I am asking because other threads I've read say its been an electrical problem.

This is a common problem.
With a very simple fix.

A large wire harness plug located on the emergency brake bracket is lose/not making good contact. This large plug/connection feeds the ign switch, etc...

The fix is too Unplug and re-plug firmly. Some have relocated the plug off the e brake bracket and wire tied it away from the bracket.

I was having this same problem almost daily. For me it started with a little chime while driving then the error message pops up.

My fix was to just unplug that big connector on the e brake bracket, checked all pins to make sure they were not bent or backing out and re plugged in firmly.
Never had the problem again and its been about year now since my last
'Hill Decent Control Fault and Service AdvanceTrac' message. If you do a search there are many threads on this on many SD forums.

Some get even more error messages along with the above. Some can't start up if the connection is intermittently totally open on certain pins. Problem is all in that connector/plug.

Hope this helps....

Service Advance-Trac error message

I had a similar problem. I had no indications of any issues until all my warning lights came on during a hunting trip. On my way home all warning lights stayed on, RPM gauge and Speedometer stayed flat at 0. I got home okay but the next morning my truck would not start. All that happened was a message: service advance-trac.

I had to have it towed to the dealer. They were baffled but called Ford and were told that it was "a couple of computers unable to talk to one another" and were advised to hardwire past 2 (I think) connectors. I just got it back but it appears to be fine.

This is a lightly used 2015 with 7500 miles on it.

Update

as was the case with my error messages earlier this summer, it was a case of the trucks network not allowing various components to talk to one another.

in that case, it was some bad splices in the factory wiring harnesses, in this most recent case, it was the connection at the "plug". the dealership ended up wiring past the plug & there are no problems "at this time"

Seems like an odd fix if the problem was caused by the Ford factory (I assume a prior owner didn't do the bad splicing?).

It's kind of like buying a new truck, and one of the brake lines is bad so they "fix" it by unplugging and cspping that brake line because the other three brskes can do the work. It just ain't right.......
