It is all for peace of mind. There is extra capacity and mechanism for water separation, easy view of what is in the filters with the clear bowls, and extra particulate filtration. I like mine and recommend them. So far in 40,000 miles though, they have yet to save my butt. (Haven't gotten bad fuel fortunately).
