So I installed a isspro fuel pressure gauge about 6 years ago. My fuel pressure runs about 52 psi. I know that might be a little low but above the 45 minimum.
On a recent trip to Sequoia National Park my pressure dropped to 25 psi. This lasted about 20 minutes then the pressure returned to normal. It did this several more times. On getting home I installed the blue spring kit ( thanks Rusty for the great instructions). On startup my pressure was about 40 psi. Later driving it went to 62 psi. I'm assuming the problem is my fuel pressure
gauge. But can the truck run well at 25 psi? Does the pumps go bad like this?
Do I need to get this checked? I really don't want to buy a new gauge.
Call Isspro, the should send you a new sending unit if you think that is the culprit. They've sent me two sending units AND a new gauge itself for my FP guage. Failures happen.
If the FP is actually at 25psig, then yeah you need to get it checked. A full set of injectors is ~$1800 in parts alone, not worth messing with killing them IMO.
Between Tractor Supply and Lowes I built a decent fuel pressure set-up for less than $70. I had the test port fitting already. If you have any use for one in the garage it may be worth building one up. I think I still have the part numbers somewhere if you want them.
