I got my first truck about a year ago now (86' f250 6.9) and have had to tackle more pressing matters but now I'm on to the vents and having heat this winter. I know very little about this aspect of my truck I replaced the blower motor earlier this year (old one started to smoke) but all I have is defrost no matter what setting I put the vents on, so nothing comes out of the vents nomader what, I believe I have cable type for the vent dams and the truck has the factory A/C any ideas would be appreciated Thank you
Usually the problem is a vacuum leak or break. Defrost is the default position when there is no vacuum.
So, start at the firewall where a small vacuum line comes off a small plastic manifold and runs toward the corner of the fender and firewall on the passenger's side. There's a tee there where one side goes toward the fron to a vacuum reservoir and the other goes into the cab. Many times the break is where it goes into the cab as there's a grommet and it is easy to break the hard plastic line there.
