We did go up a short (~3 miles) 10% grade with no issues. The one thing i do like about the Edge's tow mode is the way it uses EPBV as a quasi-jake-brake. I still have to hit the brakes a little or shift down on steeper longer grades, but I can feel BPV working to slow me down a bit.
.
I have the Evo EEF-1120, and I had nothing against its tunes, just the fact that you had to pull off the highway and take 10 minutes to reflash the PCM and use another tune. I still use the Evo for the gauges, but when I saw that DP Tuner had a EBPV brake tune, I went to DP. I didn't know that the Evo had such a tune, and on mine, I would suspect I had to pull off the highway and reflash to use it??? Maybe not on another model?

As far as EGT's, I regularly would run more than 1300 on 6% and 7% grades in the Sierra's puling my 10K + trailer, so I too have to drive by EGTs. On the 395 grade outside of Bishop, CA I get down to 45 mph, and on the top of the grade outside of Lee Vining, I get down to 35 mph, keeping the EGTs under 1200. Still, it's a lot better than my Ford 460 which was a great engine, but pulled down to near 20 mph on that grade.
