I am installing the rear main and front timing cover crank seals. I am having trouble finding out which way they are supposed to be installed. There is no clear source and have seen conflicting instructions.
On the rear main, which side goes told the engine, the flat side or not flat side. Below is a rough cross section view. Which side goes towards the motor? The seal does have the taper like the drawing.
Below is the timing cover crank seal, which way does this go? Does the Shiny metal go toward the motor or away?
I have continued searching, but have still been unable to find appropriate instructions. Obviously this is important that they are in correctly and I don't want to have to change them after the motor goes into the truck. All help greatly appreciated.
