Accelerator linkage/cable?

Hi All,

I notice the accelerator pedal has been rigged. I'd like to repair/replace with the correct cable/linkage. Can anyone give me an idea if I would be able to purchase a new cable or hook up.

I guess the real question is what is my next step. I tried LCM Truck, but had trouble locating the part because I don't know the correct name of it.

Anyone's help is greatly appreciated.

I inserted a picture of the connection to help. Thank you all.

Robert

the connection of the accelerator is rigged, want to repair properly if possible.

The year is 1966, engine 240 .... quick question..the truck starts right up, but has a knock when the engine is running. Because I just took possession I thought I'd replace the fuel filter, get the oil changed. I wanted to know because it start right up, should I leave it be or yes, its okay to change out fuel filter, air cleaning and anything else recommended. If you have any recommendations I'd love to hear them too. Thank you Bill

I doubt that LMC or any other repro part seller will have the part(s) you need.

Then I guess my only option would be find the part used, or make it myself? Thank you Bill

Seem to recall similar threads where member's mentioned there's an aftermarket throttle cable kit for that particular application, perhaps a member familiar with the kit will chime-in?

Swapped the 240 for 302 in my 65, rather than refab. a throttle cable decided to remove the existing assembly and go with direct mechanical linkage.
Anyhow, food for thought?

It almost looks like the end of the cable broke off. What does it look like on the engine side? Here are a couple pics of my '66 with a 240.

It looks like the end broke off of the cable. I would try a junk yard for any truck with a six cyl engine. I wonder if the ball/clip-on end from a strut found on camper shell door could be made to work. Here are a couple of pics from my '66 with a 240.

Thank you John, the pics helps. And yes the cable broke off.
i'm not sure I can replace the part, but was told there maybe a replacement. If not, I'm curious if I could replace with another accelerator I can use with the 240.

Thanks again.

Thanks Dave, I'm going to post a thread and ask if anyone knows of the kit you mentioned. Appreciate the information.

I may have exactly what you are looking for. I recall pulling one off of my 65 when I swapped engines. I think it's been in my barn for the past 35+ years with a few other parts. I'll probably you if I can find it later today.

Unibody62, looks like I need the cable. If you want to check on your 65', I'd wait to hear back. NumberDummy sent me two sources to get the accelerator cable too. But I'll wait to hear back from you before purchasing elsewhere. Thank you Unibody62, greatly appreciated.
