I'm sure it could be rerouted, but you have more of a reason to do this than I. Just thought about it...the CAC is mounted at the same level, but just behind the bumper. I suspect this would be a casualty before that hose would.
Good point. Also, doesn't a skid plate protect this too, or does the skid plate start further back?
I agree it seems like a strange design, but I'm not worried about damage. With the front air dam there, you'd have to be running through some nasty stuff to hit that hose. I can't imagine what scenario could play out that would get a stick up there with enough force to do any damage. Well, a scenario that doesn't begin with "I rammed my truck into this tree..."

Looks like you some good engine protection there, heck of alot better than what i got.
LOL...yah officer, i swear, i was drivin down the road and this tree ran out from the forest and into me
The engine skid plate is actually pretty good. I do wish that front gap had some protection, but I'm more concerned about the cloth cover over the tranny and cats.
I have the full RCI package on a 2016 5.0. You can reach the filter from the side or from the top. It's a little tight from the side/bottom. On my 14 with an Airaid jr. CAB it was a snap from the top. The plates under the engine has a trap door for the oil drain and if you put a Fumoto drain valve it's easy to change the oil. Solid protection for a lot of parts.
I don't know where the filter is on the 5.0, but it must be easier to access than the 3.5EB. You can see the white filter on my picture above. RCI says you have to remove the front skid plate to remove the filter. I was doing some Googling over the weekend and apparently RCI has a new front plate design (can be found in their scratch and dent section...not the F-150 section. Huh?) that has a lip that curls up from where the current plate ends and allows direct access to the filter without removal. I might look into that soon...

Thats pretty much where the 5.0 filter is also, i found a manufacturer who makes pretty much the same as the RCI's up in Alberta CA, the price is in CDN but its full length as the RCI, if you wish, ill pm you the link, not sure how the mods like linking.
In you picture, the gap between the bumper and the front frame crossmember, i have this piece of fabric/felt thing that goes fron the top of the bumper and back to the engine basically, this thing has a push pin that has now been broken and has drooped down and just hanging there. What the heck is this fabric stuff doing in there, and what is this for?? Ive re-attached it and am going to take it into the dealer to have it replaced at some point.

Sure, please PM me the link. I think the forum is okay with posting here, but maybe not since so many other shops are sponsors of the forum.
The specific fabric you mention doesn't sound familiar, but I think these trucks are all the same, so I probably have it too. From the general location, it sounds like something they might put in place to help direct air to the radiator. Not sure however.
This from my 15 3.5 ecoboost, vacuum line not evident.
Actually it's mounted a bit higher.
great pic j.grif, so the 3.5 EB and 5.0 filters are pretty much in the same spot, yupp, your vacuum line for the IWE are a little higher, or tighter to the top. How many miles you got on your rig?? for a 2015, your engine is spotless

. That pic is a year old, but I do rinse off frequently in winter months, at time of pic, was at 1776 miles, now at 15800, still looks good.

Nothing at all wrong with posting it publicly. Vendors can't come on here to advertise their wares without becoming site sponsors, but sharing information about them is perfectly fine.

Do you powerwash at home or go to one of those coin op wash places, im guessing no issues giving it a good powerwash?
The actual felt/fabric thing i mentioned earlier, in your pic, the fabric covers that upper area and has 2 cutouts for the 2 aluminum lines that i think head to the steering. Almost as if its there to keep crap from flying up or something, i have no idea what its there for? but mines come loose.

Thanks Tom, good to know, while searching for the front end protection, thread i had going here, i came across the same people to manufacture under armour, as they call it. Ill post then the link below if anyones interested, they seem to have some pretty neat stuff, there the ones with the grille inserts i found and posted a pic of.

A bit off-topic, but those aren't power steering lines. These trucks use electric power steering, which means the only lines going to the rack are two heavy gauge wires.

Thorium, I use the quarter car wash, on rinse only, I direct no soap underneath, I don't get close to anything with the wand, my preferences are to hit it with a garden hose and just flush with clear water, you can do some damage with a pressure washer, nothing wrong with a rinse once in a while.
In the rust belt, they are going to corrode, in Arizona, they will look like new at ten years old, in Michigan, especially in wayne county, they grow old quick, I don't care too much what it looks like underneath as long as it's not disintegrating. As far as the rubberized fabric, I think that is to direct air through the radiator and condenser coils, on my 2012, that stuff was starting to tear where the plastic push pins went through it, I have not looked that hard at the 2015, they changed the hood grill arangement and you don't have the access you did in the older trucks.
