03 radio problem

Have 2003 F-350 7.3 PSD with a radio problem. Radio(Pioneer after market) comes on and off when it wants to(seems like)--when key is on.
Ford said it was radio so got another OEM-does the same thing.
When it cuts off(aftermarket not Ford one) I hear a faint beep, beep. Also when I turn key off radio keeps playing till I open door, then it cuts off....
Any help suggestions --Help

are you able to swap with an OEM radio? Just to test, sounds like some sort of after market relay/timer set up perhaps? The beeping after key off most likely is the radio, the Sony in my F150 did the same thing at key off, I actually liked that and miss that function.

OEM is what I just bought, but does same as the Pioneer.

I have a Sony, keeps playing until door is opened. I wish I had an OEM mine doesn't pick up any AM stations and I like my news, They haven't made decent music for FM since the 80's IMO so I just hook in an MP3 player.

Did you pull the radio and check the power connection? is it a plug it did PO chop the wires and twist them? Do you lose your presets when it cuts out? If it's doing same with OEM radio then I Think I'd start looking at the ignition switch, maybe it worn out.

Connection looks good-it is original...
When radio cuts of it comes back on to where I had it set. There issn't any thing special about timing, one day it may not come on till down the road , next day comes on at start up.

It's your dash display (i.e. Odometer/gauges/etc). I had the same issue, plus headlights would not turn off, and power windows would stop (whenever the radio turned off).
Apparently the diodes/capacitors/resistors (not sure which ones) that are part of the dash assembly overheat... and then shut down until they cool. I replaced my dash display and the problem went away. (Just have to get the odometer re-programmed for correct miles)... or not😜
