Worked for a company that's been around since the early '90s and over that time they've averaged running 10-20 vans on the road. Also have had the same mechanic servicing those vans over that span of years. According to him those vans were across the board expected to reach 200k miles all the while being maintained with the bargain brand fluids. Basically the rest of the van would start falling apart around the driveline forcing that van out service. Change your fluids...sure, but just don't over think it. It's gonna do what it does.

No external fuel filter on this generation of F150's, correct? I think I remember trying to change mine, and I think Auto**** sold me a filter. I could not find one anywhere on the truck. Just the one in the tank, as far as I can tell.

I dont see how they could have sold you a filter for that truck since its in the tank, and if it doesnt have one between the tank and engine, how would it have a part number?

Diff fluid change interval

My local Ford dealer tech with 32 years experience advised me to switch to 75W-90 rather than the 85W-140 on my 2014 F150 3.7 liter . He stated that he had seen too many pinion bearing failures due to excess friction from the higher viscosity oil so at 167K while installing a new Ford OEM 4.10 ratio diff and bearings/shims/seals to give a little more low end grunt than the stock 3.73 did just that . Can't tell any difference in sound and at 50K miles added I dropped the fluid to check . It had discolored a little but feel could go 60-80K no issue. The 4.10 dropped fuel economy by 0.2 mpg but Like the extra low end especially at 45-55 mph when tranny is in 6th gear. I tow 5-6 times a year but just 2000 pound trailer of sod and dirt bikes on trailer 20-25 times per year . Maybe if pulling an RV in the desert I would stay with the 85W-140 since the heat would thin it out more. Tranny I do every 40K and it does discolor somewhat . Good time to wipe solenoid bodies as some slight dark deposits seem to stick to them which that stuff is conductive so maybe avoid shorting the solenoids. Mine uses the shorter 5/8 inch pick up on the filter rather than the longer pick up spigot. I don't heat up to open the thermostat . Seen them do it at the dealerships and don't want them running my engine at high RPM's for 15 minutes to heat it up. I get 5.75 quarts out just dropping the pan which is fine by me .
